Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi Gets Green Signal for Pongal Release After HC Verdict.

The Madras High Court has cleared the Pongal release of Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan, dismissing a plagiarism-related legal challenge. The order was passed by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy after hearing arguments from all parties.

The film, also starring Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela, is scheduled to release on January 10. Assistant director K.V. Rajendran had earlier approached the court, alleging that the story was copied from his registered script Chemmozhi. Senior Advocate P.S. Raman represented Sudha Kongara, while Senior Advocate Aravind Pandian appeared for producer Dawn Pictures.

The court refused to stay the release and directed the South Indian Film Writers’ Association to examine the plagiarism claim. Finding no grounds to halt the film, the court confirmed its theatrical release as planned.

Parasakthi, expected to be a major Pongal release, is believed to be set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi protests of the 1960s. The film will clash at the box office with Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan, releasing on January 9.
