The new year is finally arriving and with the new year comes a whole slew of new films hitting the big screen and 2020’s schedule features a strong roster of big-budget action pics, the exciting return of many beloved heroes and some terrifying new action outings. 1. Darbar.
This is a glory to #getRajinified at 2020 going to release in pongal with A.R.Murugadoss and Anirudh Ravichander going to slam the grounds as a strong headstart at Pongal. Produced by LYCA.
Darbar is a Tamil action drama movie, directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The cast of Darbar includes Rajinikanth and Nayantara in the lead roles. Darbar is Nayanthara and Rajinikanth’s fourth collaboration after Chandramukhi, Kuselan and Sivaji. The movie's cinematography will be handled by Santhosh Sivan, Sreekar Prasad will handle the movie editing and composer Anirudh Ravichanderwill compose music for the movie.
The first look poster and title was announced on April 09, 2019. The movie Darabar produced by Subashkaran under Lyca Productions. The movie scheduled to release on Jan 10, 2020 on the eve of Pongal.
Darbar's first single, "Chumma Kizhi", with lyrics by Vivek, sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, was released on 27 November 2019. The grand audio launch of the movie is all set to happen on 7th Dec at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
2. Indian 2.
Again LYCA , Anirudh but deadly actor-director combo. Hoped as Kamal’s final movie where Shankar directs it.
Indian 2 is an upcoming vigilante action thriller film directed by S. Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 film Indian, the film is being produced by Subaskaran Allirajah‘s Lyca Productions. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Nedumudi Venu reprising their roles as Senapathy and Krishnaswamy respectively from the first instalment, with Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, collaborating for the first time with Kamal Haasan and Shankar. Cinematography and editing were handled by R. Rathnavelu and A. Sreekar Prasad.
3.Cobra.
A high octane action thriller to be directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu with Chiyaan Vikram for Vikram's 58th movie. The movie has been titled as Cobra . The movie will be produced by Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studio jointly with Viacom 18 Studios. The movie directer Ajay Gnanamuthu is well known for his previous hits Demonte Colony and Imaikkaa Nodigal.
The movie will go on the floors in August this year and the filmmakers have plans to release it in April 2020. A R Rahman will be composing music for this movie.
4. Thalapathy 64.
Thalapathy Vijay's 64th movie tentatively titled as 'Thalapathy 64' is a Tamil drama movie written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie stars Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan in the lead roles while Anthony Varghese, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj essay supporting roles. The movie will be produced by Xavier Britto under XB Film Creators. The soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
The cinematography and editing will be handled by Sathyan Sooryan and Philomin Raj respectively.
The movie will hit the screens on summer 2020.
5. Valimai.
Thala Ajith's upcoming film Valimai, directed by H Vinoth, is all set to hit the theatres on Diwali 2020.Ajith scored back-to-back hits with director Siruthai Siva's Viswasam and H Vinoth's Nerkonda Paarvai. Now, the actor is gearing up for his second collaboration with H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor. Titled Valimai, the film is tipped to be a cop thriller.
6. Soorarai Pottru.
Suriya, whose last outings on the big screen was Selvaraghavan’s NGK and KV Anand’s Kaappaan, is currently busy with Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara. The latest is that the actor has rapped the ‘Maara Theme’ in the film, composed by music director GV Prakash.
Soorarai Pottru is said to be a film based on Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. The biographical film, jointly produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga, boasts a stellar cast including Aparna Balamurali, Jackie Shroff, Karunas, Mohan Babu and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles.
