Mani Ratnam's hard work in bringing Ponniyin Selvan to life is hardly a month away. For several years, he has been trying to make a film on famous Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.
Mani Ratnam is currently in Thailand shooting his dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan' with Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Ashwin Kakkamanu and Aishwerya Lakshmi participating in the current schedule. The other major stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Rahman, Sarathkumar, Lal and others will be joining in the coming days for their portions.
An official announcement has just landed as a grand New Year treat for Mani Ratnam fans which is that the title font of 'Ponniyin Selvan' will be out on January 2nd. The mega historical epic movie based on Kalki's famous novel is produced by Lyca Productions and has music score by A.R. Rahman.
Speaking about his role to an entertainment portal, Vikram said, "When Mani Ratnam narrated the script to me and told me about the outline of the character, I was like 'Wow'. It is very intense, fierce, aggressive kind of role for which I have to build a little more body and looks have to be changed."
Hinting that his character will have grey shades, he added, "It is more like a beast kind of role and I have been looking for something like this. You can't call him a villain, but is nothing less than being a villain. I have been wanting to do something like this and finally, the chance has come."
