Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starrer PadMan is one of the most awaited Bollywood films of the year. While we know that Akshay willingly shifted the release date of PadMan from January 26 to February 9 for Padmaavat, the lead actor of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Deepika Padukone has now come forward to show her support for PadMan. While we have already seen a few celebrities posing with a sanitary pad to promote R Balki’s social drama, Deepika too shared a post.
In her post, Deepika has now challenged Badminton champion P V Sindhu. The internet has already flooded with celebrities posing with sanitary pads and taking up a serious movement against the stereotypes of menstruation.The movie is inspired by the life Tamil Nadu based social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham. #PadManChallenge was started where the challenger asks one to click a photo with a sanitary pad and share it on social media and tag other people to take up the challenge next. Previously PadMan was going to clash with Deepika’s much-awaited Padmaavat, but Akshay pushed Pad Man’s release to February 9. In an interview, while discussing it Deepika said, “I read a quote which said only from a heart you can touch this sky. I think that is so relevant in this situation. It is relevant even with our film. We made this film with all our heart. In spite of all the stones that were thrown at us, all the hurdles that we faced and all the roadblocks we came across, the film is invincible in that sense. It’s gone beyond us in fact today. The audience has become the torchbearer of the film now.” She further added, “But I think gestures like these say a lot about a person.”
