Sara Ali Khan will be seen weaving magic in a double role in Aanand L Rai’s new directorial Atrangi Re, getting paired opposite Akshay Kumar and Dhanush.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the screenplay of Atrangi Re follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in parallel. Does it remind you of any other recent Sara film? Well, this time Sara will be seen romancing the two actors, Akshay and Dhanush, in two timelines.
A source close to the development told the publication, "While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel."
Anand L Rai's Atrangi Re is a cross-cultural love story set in Bihar and Madurai. While Sara plays a girl from Bihar, Dhanush will be seen as a guy from Madurai.
Talking about the film in a statement, the director said, "All the three characters are funnily weird and it's their emotional journey. I am always looking for partners who are as emotionally touched as I am with the story and all three of them are like that. Every character in this film has it's own traits will put them in an unseen space."
Sara Ali has experimented in a similar theme with Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal opposite Kartik Aaryan, who had a double role in the film. Unlike the 2009 version starring Deepika Padukone and dad Saif Ali Khan, Sara's film could not win hearts, despite opening to strong numbers.
Apart from this, Sara will be next seen in the Coolie No 1 remake by David Dhawan opposite Varun Dhawan.
Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush will start shooting for Atrangi Re in March while Akshay Kumar will join them later in April. The film will open in theatres on Valentine's Day next year.
