Kaappaan Movie Review : Kaappaan is Good, But Predictable...

Director KV Anand has collaborated with Suriya for the third time for Kaappaan, an action thriller like their previous works, but the latest flick is entirely set in a new premise. The film has ensemble cast comprising of Mollywood superstar Mohanlal and real-life celebrity couple Arya and Sayyeshaa. Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, Thalaivasi Vijay, Poorna, and others are part of the cast. The film has Harris Jayaraj's music, Harris Jayaraj's music, and Anthony's editing.

Mohan Lal is a sincere politician who always does good things for the people of the country. On the other hand, Ravi Kishore(Suriya) is an enigmatic officer who helps the PM in all his coveted operation and becomes close to him. As time passes by, the PM gets killed in a crazy military attack and things turn upside down. Who has killed the PM? What will Ravi Kishore do to find the culprits? Who is actually behind all this? To know the answer, you need to watch the film on a big screen.

Suriya has excelled in the emotions and action sequences. Mohanlal steals the show with his natural acting. Yet, his role could have been provided with some more strong characterization. Arya, Boman Irani, and Samuthirakani had done justice to their roles. Sayyeshaa Saigal as Anjali, the press secretary whose father was a victim during the opening assassination attempt, delivers her best, Arya in the role of Mohanlal’ son is good. Boman Irani in the role of Mahadev, the multi-millionaire who sort-of runs the government justifies with his role. Samuthirakani, Prem, Kiran, Chirag Jani, and others perform well.

The storyline of Kaappaan is interesting. The soundtrack and background score by Harris Jayaraj matches the pace of the plot. The Cinematography is impressive. The editing is ok. The production values of the film are good. KV Anand’s racy Screenplay and Story are well handled.

After the interesting interval block, Kaappaan becomes predictable. The Twists are ok but predictable. Decent climax, but that isn’t enough to cover up the poor writing. Kaappaan tends to deviate from its mission. After the action, suddenly romance and then social message thrown in. Rather than building up the suspense, the script deflates it.

The racy thriller with power-packed performances and the high-octane action sequences is sure to win the hearts. Suriya is definitely back on his track, after a few average films. Kaappaan is definitely watchable once!
