Kaappaan is based on the life of SPG officers whose life is tantamount to signing a death contract. For all who are not aware SPG stands for Special Protection Group an armed force of the Union for providing proximate security to the Prime Minister and former Minister of India and the members of their Immediate families wherever in the world they are. It was formed in 1988 by an act of the Parliament of India.
Kaappaan has opened to mixed reviews from the critics and the audience. It is an action thriller in which real-life couple Arya and Sayyeshaa are doing key roles.
