Superstar Rajinikanth is back with his new movie Petta, a mass commercial entertainer with female leads Trisha & Simran directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Petta opened with a bang in the Tamil Nadu box office despite strong competition from Thala Ajith much awaited film Viswasam on 10th January, 2019.
Petta sixth day box office collection saw good hold by collecting Rs. 17.00 Cr and took total to Rs. 82.70 Cr in Tamil Nadu Box Office and Rs. 20.00 Crore from other States in 6 days. Petta worldwide collection is Rs. 140.70 Crore till Tuesday i.e. day 6 of its release despite 90% screen sharing with Thala Ajith's film Viswasam.
Petta, has crossed Rs 100 Cr mark at the worldwide box office collection. From Kabali to Petta, Rajinikanth has churned out four back-to-back hits and all the four films effortlessly crossed Rs 100 Cr mark.Considering the huge buzz, craze, it can be said Petta is going to shatter many box office record in Indian and overseas.
Petta performed well on its first 5 days at the box office and collection 127.10 Cr (worldwide).

Petta is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, with whom the superstar is collaborating for the first time. Sasikumar, Bobby Simha and J Mahendran. Sun Pictures has produced the Rajinikanth starrer.
