Pop Superstar Britney Spears stunned fans recently when she announced that she was cancelling her Las Vegas residency. This would have been Spears’ second residency in Las Vegas, but due to her father’s health concerns, the “Baby One More Time” singer decided it was best to devote her time to be with her family.
Britney Spears’s father Jamie was rushed to the hospital, two months ago, because of a colon rupture and he went into surgery. He spent 28 days in the hospital. The recovery is said to be a “long, complicated post-operative period.”
I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me (sic),” Britney said in a statement.
Bill Hornbuckle, president MGM Resorts International released a statement to Billboard, saying “All of us at MGM Resorts wish Mr. Spears a speedy recovery. We wholly understand and respect Britney’s commitment to her family and believe that her place is with them during this important time.”
