Superstar Rajinikanth- Mega Star Akshay Kumar's 2.0 Is The 8th Highest Opening Film Of 2018 In Bollywood
2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, took the eighth spot on the list of highest opening Hindi films of 2018, as per a report published in Box Office India. The S Shankar-directed film released across 4,000 screens and it registered 40 per cent occupancy in the early shows. The occupancy is "driven by single screens and mid-level multiplexes," according to Box Office India. As of now, Thugs of Hindostan, which opened on a promising note but tanked subsequently, registered the highest opening percentage - 65%. Baaghi 2, Sanju, Gold and Race 3 rounded off the list of top 5 highest openers.
On Sunday, the Superstar Rajinikanth and Mega Star Akshay Kumar-starrer 2.0 added Rs 12 crore more to its kitty. After a 12-day run, the total collection of the sci-fi film stands at Rs 166.75 crore. With this, the S Shankar directorial has now surpassed the lifetime collections of Baaghi 2 (Rs 164.38 crore) and Race 3 (Rs 166.40 crore) to become the third-highest grosser of 2018 after Sanju and Padmaavat.
The film’s box office numbers are expected to double up after it releases in China in May 2019.The film will continue its successful run in theatres for another couple of weeks as there are no big-budget films scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
2.0 imparts an important message that the world is not only for humans but also for other living beings. The film talks about the radiation emitting from the mobile phone towers and its adverse effects on birds.
