Iconic Actor Rajinikanth’s new movie Kaala .The much-awaited movie in which Rajinikanth teams up with his Kabali director Pa Ranjith.Kaala released across 2,000 theatres in the country .Due to solid star power, it opened on a tremendous note but hasn’t set any record except in Chennai where it collected higher business than Vijay’s Mersal on day-1.
On the opening day, Dhanush’ production took a solid start in Tamil Nadu and grossed the business of 15.4 crores from 650 screens with 1.76 crores from Chennai. On Friday, with a usual drop, it raked the business of 10.50 crores from the state that including 1.44 crores from Chennai.
On the next day i.e. Saturday, Kaala got dropped further and garnered the business of 9.10 crores at the TN box office with 1.20 crore from Chennai. After 3 days, the total collection of the movie from Tamil Nadu has become 35 crores gross. At the Indian box office, it collected total 52.50 crores that included 25.50 crores of Thursday, 15 crores of Friday, and 12 crores of Saturday.For its dubbed Hindi version, Kaala is struggling to pull crowd toward theaters. On the opening day, it collected the amount of 0.95 crore. While with some growth in footfalls, the movie minted the amount of 1.35 crores on Friday and 1.25 crores on Saturday, and raised its 3 days total to 3.55 crores nett.
The film is doing well at international box office and has touched Rs 6.83 crore at the American box office. As per trade expert Ramesh Bala, filmmaker Pa Ranjith's film has crossed 100 crore gross at the box office worldwide.
Kaala is doing extremely well in Australia and has become the second biggest opener, after 'Padmaavat'. Made on a huge budget of whopping 140 crores, Dhanush's production has earned Rs 230 crores from satellite and music rights before its release.
'Kaala' has also become the first Indian movie to be released in Saudi Arabia after a ban on film was lifted in the country.
