Actor Vijay and his wife Sangeetha have reportedly moved toward legal separation, putting an end to ongoing rumours. In a petition filed by Sangeetha, she has made several serious allegations regarding the breakdown of their marriage.
According to the petition, Sangeetha claims she discovered in April 2021 that Vijay was involved in a relationship with another actress, which caused her deep emotional distress and a breach of trust. She alleges that despite assurances, the relationship continued, and Vijay became emotionally distant. She also claims she was excluded from his social and professional life and faced public embarrassment due to photos of Vijay travelling abroad with the actress.
The petition further states that attempts to resolve the issue since 2024 were unsuccessful. Sangeetha alleges that she faced financial restrictions and limitations on her freedom.
She has requested that the marriage, solemnised on August 25, 1999, be dissolved under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. She also seeks the right to reside in the Neelankarai home until final judgment or alternative accommodation is provided, along with fair and permanent alimony.
Sangeetha has stated that the marriage has irretrievably broken down, leaving legal separation as the only option.
