Superstar Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar’s highly anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, is currently in the works. Adding to the excitement, actor Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed that he will be making a cameo appearance in the film.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay Sethupathi said he agreed to the cameo out of respect and admiration for Rajinikanth. “Being with him allows me to learn a lot. Superstars who have lasted for decades have so much to teach,” he shared, adding that he made an exception despite earlier deciding against doing cameo or villain roles.
Vijay Sethupathi also explained that he is selective about playing antagonists, as many such roles are written only to elevate the hero and lack depth.
Jailer 2 boasts a star-studded cast including Rajinikanth, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, and Yogi Babu, with special appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Vinayakan. The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
