Director Shankar is fast-tracking pre-production for his next mega project, Velpari, based on Su. Venkatesan’s acclaimed novel Veera Yuga Nayakan Velpari. The script for the three-part saga is complete, and the film aims to present the legendary story of King Pari and his battles against the Chera, Chola, and Pandya kingdoms on a global scale.
At a recent event attended by Rajinikanth, Shankar said Velpari is his “most inspiring project,” promising visuals and scale comparable to Game of Thrones and Avatar.
Reports indicate that shooting will begin in June 2026, after Shankar finishes Indian 3. Talks are underway with Chiyaan Vikram, Suriya and a major Bollywood star, with names like Ranveer Singh and Shah Rukh Khan in consideration.
With music by A.R. Rahman and an estimated ₹1000-crore budget, the film is rumored to involve major banners like Dharma Productions and Netflix, building massive anticipation among fans.
