Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, slated for a Pongal release on January 10, is currently facing censorship issues after the CBFC reportedly demanded multiple cuts related to scenes depicting the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. As the censor board suggested extensive modifications, the makers have approached the Revising Committee (RC), and a final decision on the matter is still awaited.
Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated farewell film, Jana Nayagan, is also encountering a similar situation. Sources indicate that the CBFC has asked for several cuts in Vijay’s film as well, and the team is yet to decide on the next course of action.
It remains to be seen whether the makers of Jana Nayagan will accept the cuts recommended by the censor board or choose to move the Revising Committee, as was done in the case of Parasakthi.
Interestingly, two major Kollywood films lined up for the Pongal season are currently going through similar censorship challenges, raising concerns among fans and the trade alike.
