Kamal Haasan to restart Marudhanayagam with Chiyaan Vikram.

Featuring Kamal Haasan in the lead, Marudhanayagam was a magnum opus which was launched in a grand event in 1997. The film made nationwide headlines after Queen Elizabeth II was present at the launch and she was the guest of honor. But later the film was shelved due to various reasons. Ina recent interview, Kamal Haasan has revealed that his long-pending magnum opus Marudhanayagam will be possible in the future only if either the story is rewritten or a younger star plays the lead character.

Kamal Haasan wanted to tell a story about a persecuted tribe in the colonial era in the now-defunct epic historical movie Marudhanayagam, years before Mel Gibson made a movie called Apocalypto. The 2006 Hollywood movie depicts the brutal oppression and ensuing violent rebellion set in the ancient Maya civilization before it was colonised by the Spanish.

Marudhanayagam Is a period drama about warrior Mohammad Yusuf Khan set in the 18th century. The superstar, who’s busy with politics these days, might not headline the project any more. According to the reports, the actor wants Chiyaan Vikram to play the lead role in it, while he will back the film under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International. Now let’s see if this time we finally get to see this project get on the track and experience something spectacular on screen.
