Aamir Khan & Kiran Rao Announce Divorce!!!! Why? Deets Inside.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have announced their separation after 15 years of a marriage, in a joint statement.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has released an official statement announcing his divorce with wife Kiran Rao. The couple has been married for 15 years now and has a son Azad Rao Khan.

Aamir and Kiran’s joint statement read, “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives – no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other.”

The statement concluded, "A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap. We request our well wishers for good wishes and blessings, and hope that - like us - you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey."

Aamir and Kiran had met on the sets of his film Lagaan. “I met Kiran when I was doing Lagaan (2001). She was one of the ADs (assistant directors) on that but at that time, we didn’t have any relationship, we were not even great friends. She was one of the people on the unit. It was after my separation and divorce after some time that I met her again,” Aamir had revealed in an interview.

Aamir and Kiran have a nine-year-old son named Azad Rao Khan.

 Fatima Sana Shaikh the reason behind Aamir Khan’s divorce?

Now as per industry insiders, there are strong murmurs that Fatima Sana Shaikh is close to Aamir Khan.

However it is still not known if Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan are close enough to prompt the latter to divorce his wife for 15 year. But reports of closeness of Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh were doing the rounds for sometime now and people were curious to know if something was brewing between both of them.

This is not the first divorce of Aamir Khan as he had earlier parted ways with his earlier wife Reena Dutta. Khan married filmmaker Kiran Rao after his first divorce.

Rumours regarding Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan garnered strength when he pitched her name for ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. Aamir’s special attention to Fatima’s character and his personal involvement in giving her the meaty role had irked Katrina Kaif, there were reports of Katrina and Fatima not going along well on the sets. 

There are reports that Kiran Rao was not happy with the rumours of closeness of Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan. However whether these were only rumours or fact cannot be ascertained as it is the personal life of two individuals.
