Actress Mumtaz Sorcar made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Saala Khadoos' where she played a boxer. Now five years later, she's gearing up to play yet another sportsperson. Mumtaz is going to play a cricketer in an upcoming sports drama and since the lockdown has halted the filming, she is utilising the time by prepping for the role.
Mumtaz shared while speaking to ETimes, Currently, filming is not taking place due to the pandemic and containment. Once things have normalized, start filming again. It’s a cricket movie and I’m super excited to be a part of it! I can’t divulge anything more about the story right now, but the character that was offered to me is super special and I’m proud to make this movie.
Since this is a cricket movie, they asked Mumtaz if she was a fan of cricket. To this, the Mumtaz says that she has always tried different types of sports, such as boxing, tennis, basketball. I was very active in sports during my school years. I had even won several gold medals at the YMCA. But cricket didn’t really catch my attention. It was a game that failed to excite me. I know this sounds awkward since the whole nation is crazy about cricket. Now, of course, I find the game interesting. I played it. I also trained for this. I like the game more these days, the actress said.
Speaking about her favorite cricketer, Mumtaz says that Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Jhulan Goswami are the ones she admires.
Is she a better pitcher or batsman? I think I’m a better pitcher right now since my character in the movie is a point guard. I bowled more than bat. But, personally, I like both because both have their advantages, signed Mumtaz.
