Salman’s Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali a remake of Thala Ajith’s Veeram?

March 14, 2020

Salman Khan is a busy actor. Even before the release of his latest film Dabangg 3, the actor started shooting for his next, Radhe, which will hit screens on Eid this year. Last month, Salman Khan took everyone by surprise as he announced his next with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The film will be directed by screenwriter-turned-director Farhad Samji, who had made his directorial debut with the last year’s Housefull 4 after he took over the reins from Sajid Khan.
Not much is known about the film as of now. However, a recent report by Pinkvilla claims that it is a remake of the Ajith-starrer Tamil film, Veeram (2014). According to a source mentioned in the report, the film has an emotional Hindu-Muslim angle to it and that it is a story of four brothers. The source adds that the makers have tweaked the story of the original to justify the title and to make the film pan-Indian. It further says that Salman gave an immediate nod to the film as soon as he heard the script.

According to the report, Sajid Nadiadwala has rejuggled the scripts of Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and Bachchan Pandey, both of which will be directed by Farhad Samji. The source has been quoted in the report as saying that Bachchan Pandey was earlier meant to be a remake of Veeram and was titled Land of Lungi in the beginning. Later on, however, the makers made changes in the script and now, it is the remake of the Siddharth-starrer Tamil film Jigarthanda (2014), the source said. Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali was then written as a remake of Veeram, it added.
Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali is an upcoming Bollywood drama film. The film is being helmed by Farhad Samji as director and Sajid Nadiadwala is going to be the film’s producer. The Thala Ajith's Veeram remake is supposed to hit the cinemas during Eid 2021. Fans will have to wait for any further announcements made by the producers or crew members.
