Coronavirus threat : Tamil Nadu shuts Schools, Colleges,Gyms, bars until March 31.


As part of preventive measures against coronavirus, Tamil Nadu government on Monday (March 16) announced that all educational institutions, liquor outlets, theatres, malls and resorts will remain closed till March 31.However, board exams for the Class X, XI and XII will happen as per the schedule and the medical colleges too will continue to function.

The TN government taking high precautions has also asked the public not to plan any public function including marriages till the end of the month and only the ones that had already procured permission will be allowed.

The order has been received positively by all concerned as though Tamil Nadu is one of the least affected states in India and the world by the coronavirus these proactive steps could help in battling the threat.

Globally, novel coronavirus has infected more than 1,60,000 people and killed nearly 6,500. So far India has reported nearly 115 positive cases of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. These include two people who have died due to the disease 13 patients who have been discharged after being cured.

The crisis has forced Indian governments at the Centre and in various states to put in place several restrictions aimed at reducing the arrival of people from other countries, cutting down the rate of interaction between people and stopping the spread of the virus, which has no cure or vaccine yet, at large.
