Kareena Kapoor will be the leading lady opposite superstar Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha. The film, inspired by Paramount Pictures’ Tom Hanks-starrer Forrest Gump, marks Aamir and Kareena’s third collaboration after 3 Idiots and Talaash.
Earlier, there were reports that Aamir Khan was keen to cast Kareena in Laal Singh Chhadha, and it seems his wish has been fulfilled. Kareena, who is currently in London for Angrezi Medium, has given her nod for the film.
It was on his 54th birthday this year that Aamir Khan announced Laal Singh Chaddha. At the media interaction, Aamir said, "Uska naam hai Laal Singh Chaddha. It's being made by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions together. Iske director honge Advait Chandan, jinhone banayi thi Secret Superstar. Ek angrezi film ayi thi, Hollywood film, Forrest Gump, uska adaptation hai, we have bought the rights from Paramount."
Aamir revealed that he has been trying to acquire the rights of Forrest Gump adaptation for the last 8 years.Aamir Khan said that actor Atul Kulkarni shared the idea of Forrest Gump adaptation during the shooting of Rang De Basanti. "During the shoot, he had shared that Forrest Gump is one of his favourite movies. Atul approached me with adaptation script later on but I did not take him seriously. I read the script after two and a half years and loved it. After that, I went behind taking the right of the movie," added Aamir Khan.
The film is set to hit the screens on Christmas 2020.
