Thalapathy Vijay's next movie with Atlee Kumar was formally launched with a pooja on Jan-20. It is the third union after blockbusters – Theri in 2016 and Mersal in 2017. This film, referred to as Thalapathy 63, went on floors in the city last month, and the team shot some important scenes at Binny Mills.
With the first schedule wrapped up a few days ago, the crew is currently shooting the next schedule at Prasad Labs and Napier Bridge, with a massive set constructed around the bridge. Nayanthara, who plays the female lead opposite Vijay for the first time since Villu (2009), will be joining the sets in the third week of March.

According to a source, “Atlee had recently approached Nanjil Sampath and even narrated him the script. However, due to his other commitments, he is yet to decide on the project.”Sampath, currently an AIADMK member, had played RJ Balaji’s father in LKG. He reportedly also signed up for Nenjamundu Neramaiyundu – produced by Sivakarthikeyan.
Meanwhile, there are reports stating that Keerthy Suresh will be doing an important role in the flick, but there is no official confirmation yet.Touted to be a sports film, Thalapathy 63 is said to feature 17 relatively new female actors, who will reportedly play athletes. Also starring Yogi Babu, Vivek, Kathir, Daniel Balaji, and Anandraj, the film is bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.
AR Rahman has been roped in as the music composer for this film, marking his second collaboration with Atlee after Mersal. Thalapathy 63 is scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali day.
