Superstar Rajinikanth is back with his latest film Petta, an action film with female lead Trisha directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Petta has opened with a good number in the Tamil Nadu box office despite strong competition from Ajith Kumar's mass entertainer Viswasam released simultaneously on 10th January, 2019.
Petta 12th day box office collection saw good hold. It collected around Rs. 5.0 Crore and took its total to Rs. 110 Crore in Tamil Nadu Box Office despite 50% screen sharing with Viswasam. Its box office collection from other states is very good around Rs. 45.45 Crore in 11 days. Petta worldwide collection arrived at Rs. 210.45 Crore.Petta has received positive response from Critics and also released in Telegu and Hindi after huge success of his last film 2.0. Rajinikanth is earning praises from everywher for his vintage look. The film has got good shares of screen count in the Overseas.
Rajinikanth commands a huge fan base in the US and as per January 20, the film has earned Rs 17 crores in the US alone and is still going strong in the international market.The Karthik Subbaraj-directed film is holding steady at the UAE box office as it has grossed Rs 12.39 crore in the UAE in just 10 days.
In UK and US Viswasam earned Rs 1.20 crore at the UK box office in its 1st week of release while Petta made more than twice of it with Rs 3.06 crore in its 1st week. Rajinikanth’s Petta made £41,237 between January 14 and 17 after making £292,532 between January 10 and 13. On the other hand, Viswasam made £98,016 between January 10 and 13 while adding another £32,647 between January 14 and 17.
Petta boasts a stellar cast including Rajinikanth, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Malavika Mohanlal, Sasikumar, Bobby Simhaa and Megha Akash in important roles.
