Iconic Actor Rajinikanth’s new movie Kaala that released Yesterday.The much-awaited movie in which Rajinikanth teams up with his Kabali director Pa Ranjith released across 2,000 theatres in the country. One of the deciding factors is the Cauvery controversy that led to a ban on the movie in Karnataka.
As per the trade reports, the film started its box office journey on a weak note as the premiers collections are very disappointing and the film managed to get over half a million from Thursday premiers in overseas.By the end of the day, the collections are $ 600K approximately including all languages. Classy, Mass and Masala. ] The buzz is that the high ticket pricing is one of the reasons for the inadequate response to it in overseas.The experts are of the opinion that Kaala might not register the record opening and surpass the opening-day collection of Rs 21.50 crore, set by Kabali. The movie is expected to do the business in the range between Rs 13 crore to Rs 15 crore on the first day in the state.

Kaala has set a new opening day record, in terms of box office collection.The film has collected a whopping Rs 1.76 crore in Chennai beating Vijay's Mersal's earlier record of Rs 1.52 crore. Kaala now stands at the top of the box office collection figures in Chennai. It might take another Superstar film to beat this remarkable feat.
Before Mersal, Ajith's Vivegam had registered a record box office collection on its opening day by garnering Rs 1.21 crore.Trade analyst Girish Johar, speaking to Financial Express revealed that the first-day box office collection of Kaala will be close to Rs 25-30 crore.
