After reports were doing rounds that Simbu may collaborate with director Venkat Prabhu for a remake, the director has given an official confirmation that they would be teaming up for the first time, but also clarified that the film will be a new subject and not a remake. This has put all the rumors about the film being a sequel to Thala Ajith's 'Billa' to rest.The yet untitled film will be the duo’s first collaboration in their long careers. The film will be produced by Suresh Kamatchi and AR Rahman is rumoured to be composing the music for the film. The official announcement on cast and crew along with the title of the film is expected to be made soon.

While Simbu is currently working in Mani Ratnam's 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam', Venkat Prabhu is currently awaiting the release of Party. Meanwhile, Simbu also has his English directorial, a film with Vijaya Productions, and the sequel to Gautham Menon's 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa'.
