Avengers: Infinity War is now the 5th highest-grossing superhero movie of all time worldwide.


Second-biggest second weekend of all time in North America.

With an estimated global total of $1.16 billion, Avengers: Infinity War is now the fifth highest-grossing superhero movie of all time worldwide.

As noted by Deadline, Disney and Marvel Studios' hit movie is also now the fifteenth biggest film ever worldwide, and it still has yet to open in China. Infinity War hit the $1 billion mark on Saturday, in a record-breaking 11 days. The prior record holder was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which reached the milestone in 12 days.

In North America, Infinity War earned an estimated $112.5 million this weekend, which is now the second-biggest second weekend of all time at the domestic box office. The Force Awakens, which earned $149.2 million in its second weekend, still holds the record for the biggest second weekend in North America.

The total domestic gross of Avengers: Infinity War currently stands at $450.8 million. Internationally, the film earned an estimated $162.6 million this weekend, making for a current foreign total of $713.3 million.

Infinity War has already surpassed the global totals of The Dark Knight ($1 billion), The Dark Knight Rises ($1.09 billion), and Captain America: Civil War ($1.15 billion). The Avengers ($1.52 billion) currently holds the record for the biggest global total for a superhero film.
