Sylvester Stallone cops his fair share of beatings in his movies. His characters have come close to death in Rambo, Rocky, Cliffhanger and, of course, Spy Kids 3: Game Over, but in real life he soldiers on, getting fans hyped for the upcoming Creed sequel.
But social media was set ablaze this morning with rumours that the legendary actor had died.People were claiming his death was the result of a two-year battle with prostate cancer, causing fans to post about their favourite Stallone movies and moments.
It's worth noting that Syl is very much alive and well and you don't have to start organising a Rocky marathon in tribute to the 71-year-old. It might surprise you that this isn't the first time people have thought the actor had died.
Two years ago, a fake news report purporting to be from CNN was doing the rounds on social media, leading to plenty of fans getting worried they'd never see him again.
Thankfully, Stallone chucked a photo of him with Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev on his Instagram, with the caption saying: "With the incredibly powerful unified light heavyweight champion, Sergey 'Krusher' Kovzalev'...Whatever he hits, he destroys."
Healthy and happy: On Valentines Day he shared a snap of himself pumping iron in the gym captioned: 'Pushing the limits! 100 pounds - This one hurt, I think I’ll go home and take a nap…'
He was hit with another death hoax in 2014, when false rumours began circulating that he had died in a car crash in Australia. The original article said: "Actor Sylvester Stallone died in a single vehicle crash between Ipswich and Willowbank in Queensland as confirmed by Royal Queensland Police.
"He was identified by photo ID found at the scene. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident."
It sounds pretty legitimate when it reads like that, but it was obviously, eventually, proven false.
Stallone is one of many actors who have been prematurely labelled as dead, including Jackie Chan, Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby and Eddie Murphy.But while he definitely isn't dead, he has pushed it to the limits while on set.
Like Chan, he's well-known for doing his own stunts. When he was filming Rocky IV, he told his on-screen opponent Dolph Lundgren: "Punch me as hard as you can in the chest."
Unfortunately for Syl, that didn't work out very well, revealing on The Expendables DVD commentary: "Next thing I know, I was in intensive care at St. John's Hospital for four days. It's stupid!"
On set of that action-packed movie, he also broke his neck during a fight scene with wrestler Steve Austin.
