Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat faced controversies since its advent. The movie finally hit the theatres on January 25 this year and has found appreciation from all quarters. The film is also the first 100-crore hit for Shahid Kapoor. When the film released, Shahid’s performance impressed many. He brought grace and dignity to his character of Maharawal Ratan Singh. The actor took on the role at the insistence of wife, Mira Rajput and we feel he did an excellent thing by listening to her.
Shahid, who is now busy prepping for his next movie titled Batti Gul Meter Chalu was seen in a happy and cheerful mood at the airport today. Dressed in all black, Shahid looked stunning as he walked past the paparazzi, who were trying to catch a glimpse of him. Not only he posed for them but also gave a thumbs up to the shutterbugs. Shahid told BollywoodLife in an exclusive chat, “Maharawal Ratan Singh is a guy who nobody really knows about and for me it was an opportunity for the world to view this character and his journey and his sacrifice and who he was and his values, goodness, virtues, inner strength, dignity. And I think those were great qualities – very inspirational and aspirational – and in today’s time, it is spectacular to be able to play a character like that because I doubt any contemporary film will be able to have a character like that.”
