We're Excited to See Strut the Oscars Red Carpet in Style

Twenty-two-year-old Timothee Chalet, the internet’s new woke boyfriend, has proven himself to be quite the fashion plate, too. Between a shrunken Thom Browne tux, a velvet burgundy Saint Laurent number and a checked Gucci look, it’s clear that no trend is too trendy for Timmy. We just hope the best actor nominee, who also appears in two best picture-nominated flicks, arrives in a look as memorable as his breakout year.
Daniel Kaluuya
While promoting Get Out, Daniel Kaluuya has made subtle style choices that make all the difference. A brilliant Dolce & Gabbana pin accessory here, a subtle monochromatic print on a silk blazer there — the Brit always has a bit of an edge to his look. The first time best actor nominee isn’t afraid of a bit of color, too, be it forest green star-printed Ports jacket or a salmon-y Etro suit, and we hope he brings that flare come Mar. 4.
Saoirse Ronan
Working with stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, Irish beauty Saoirse Ronan has become the queen of color over the past few months while promoting Lady Bird. Whether it’s a bold burgundy lip contrasted with her pale skin and bleached blonde tresses or a two-toned silk Gucci look in vibrant pink and orange, she’s not been shy from a statement. Considering she is, at just 23, an Oscars regular, we hope she chooses to use her third walk down the Oscars red carpet to continue her color streak.
Margot Robbie
Honestly, Margot Robbie could probably throw a plastic sack of her head and still make the best-dressed list. Lucky for us, she has yet to do that, instead upping her fashion game this past year in more avant garde ensembles, like the striped Chanel number she donned at the Critics Choice Awards. However, even if she chooses a more traditionally glam gown, like the gold Tom Ford dress she wore at the 2015 Oscars, the best actress nominee is bound to impress.
Mary J. Blige
This may be her first Oscars, but 9-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige is no stranger to the ways of the red carpet. Whether she’s attending the Met Gala or getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Blige is always dressed to the nines in dramatic, spotlight-stealing ensembles thanks to stylist Law Roach, who also works with Celine Dion and Zendaya. While promoting Mudbound, she’s mostly opted for crisp black and white gowns by the likes of Alberta Ferretti and Jean-Louis Sabaji with unexpected embellishments — think a sheer crystal sleeve or feathers. On the biggest stage of them all, where she's up for both best actress and best original song, we imagine she’ll pull out all the stops. Can’t wait.
Greta Gerwig
All eyes will be on Greta Gerwig, the actress/writer/director who made history as the fifth woman to receive the best director nomination. We have no doubt that she’ll pick another dazzling ensemble (with the help of stylist Cristina Ehrlich she’s been reaching for Gucci and basically anything that glitters while promoting Lady Bird), especially given the potentially groundbreaking occasion. It’s her moment to shine, and we just hope she takes that literally.
Harry Styles
While the British crooner is not individually nominated for an Oscar, his first-ever feature film, Dunkirk, scooped up a nod for best picture. (Not a bad way to kick off an acting career, if you ask us.) There’s no guarantee he’ll be hitting the step-and-repeat this year, but we’re hopeful he’ll find a way. The world could really use another Harry Styles x Gucci moment right now. We’ve earned it.
